All are winners as team Hand & Stone competes in the PHL TRI Women's Marathon
Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa “Rocks” Philadelphia Women’s Triathalon
We beat the heat and could not have asked for a better day at the inaugural Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa Women’s Philadelphia Triathlon. Over 1,200 participants attended the race with 600 of them being first-time Triathletes. The Hand & Stone tent was super busy taking care of all of the athletes with chair massages. Volunteers handed out cooling towels and we had a spin-the-wheel game with a chance to win a free upgrade. Plus, each participant received $10 OFF an Upgrade in their Welcome Packet.
Additionally, several women from spas in the Philadelphia market and the corporate office joined together to represent Team Hand & Stone on race day!
Meet Team Hand & Stone
Hanna E. Clarke, LMT
Hanna never put much thought into participating in a triathlon until she saw a poster in her spa’s break room looking for people to join Team Hand & Stone. Training for the Tri seemed difficult and almost impossible considering that she had limited time to train, but Hanna figured with just a little bit of hard work, passion and dedication, she would be able to achieve this goal. As a massage therapist, Hanna places a lot of focus on educating clients about their health, and in turn places focus on her own health goals. Participating in the triathlon was the perfect opportunity to challenge her level of health and fitness in a way that has never been challenged before.
Prior to having children, Nicole was an avid runner and participated in a few half marathons. Determined to build-back her strength both mentally and physically, she signed up and participated in the Duathlon (2 mile run, 9 mile bike, 5K run) to help her get back in running shape, so she can continue to run races. She plans to challeng herself again next year in the 2019 Philadelphia Women’s Triathlon, this time adding the swim!
Diana has never participated in a race before and doesn’t consider herself an athletic person, although she goes to a gym three times a week. She joined the Philadelphia Women’s Triathlon to challenge herself. Diana knows it can be very easy to make excuses not make it to the gym, but the training for this event helped her stay motivated towards her personal fitness goals.
Sports, fitness and living a healthy lifestyle were huge values in Ally's family growing up. Years of team sports and competitive swimming set her up for her first Triathlon with the Hand & Stone team! Ally is an avid Crossfitter, Girls On The Run coach, and has completed multiple half marathons. This year she will be participating in the New York City Marathon on November 4th for her first full marathon. Run like a girl means run as fast as you can!
Always interested in pursuing a new fitness challenge, Megan decided to participate in her first Triathlon! Having participated in a few Half Marathons and other running events, Megan was determined to take on this new experience. Training for the Philadelphia Women’s Triathlon helped Megan become more active in the lazy summer months and achieve running/biking goals. Megan plans to participate in the full Philadelphia Women’s Triathlon next year as it was a very rewarding experience!
Mira Rucker, LMT
Aside from living a healthy lifestyle through regular exercise and conscious eating, Mira loves a challenge -- The Philadelphia Women’s Triathlon is both challenging and empowering. Most importantly, she strives to be a positive role model for her children. She would like her family to live a life where at any age they choose to rise up and find success in their hard work and consistent effort. What better way to do that than to show them!
Now we want you to Get On Your Feet and participate in a local 5K Run or Walk -- anything like that. Check with your local Hand & Stone to see if they are sponsoring any events in your area. If you show proof of participating, you can get a FREE Hot Towel Foot Treatment with your next service in August!
