This month, we\u2019re spotlighting a few Hand &amp; Stone franchise owners who are growing with purpose\u2014and doing it alongside the people they love most.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Eric Danver: Scaling with Heart from 1 Spa to 60+<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Like many Hand &amp; Stone franchise owners, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/in\/ericdanver\/\">Eric Danver\u2019s<\/a> journey in the wellness business began on the client side. After experiencing the services firsthand in New Jersey and hearing his wife rave about the brand, he knew it was something special. He opened his first Hand &amp; Stone franchise in Chantilly, VA, in 2015 after a long run as a Papa John\u2019s operator, where he built a network of 53 stores across the East Coast.<\/p>\n<p>Fast forward to today, and Eric operates over 60 Hand &amp; Stone spa franchise locations, with multiple family members involved in the business alongside him.<\/p>\n<p>What\u2019s kept Eric growing is simple: his team. His leadership philosophy centers on servant leadership\u2014supporting his people so they can support members and guests. \u201cWe go out of our way to let them know how valued they are. If we take care of our internal customers, they\u2019ll take care of the external ones.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Over time, the business became a family affair. All three of Eric\u2019s youngest children have worked their way up from the front desk into regional leadership roles. One of the most rewarding aspects of the Danvers\u2019 journey so far has been watching their children grow into great leaders\u2014a reflection of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.franchising.com\/articles\/proven_results_hard_work_and_dedication_really_do_pay_off.html\">work ethic and values<\/a> Eric has instilled in them over time.<\/p>\n<p>Eric remains humble about his success, but he\u2019s proud of what he\u2019s helped build. \u201cThis brand has been a blessing to our family,\u201d he says. \u201cBeing able to promote from within, provide opportunities, and grow without losing the family feel is the best of both worlds.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Bob Crowley: Bringing Franchise Experience into the Wellness Space<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>After decades in restaurant and hospitality operations, including leadership roles at Dunkin\u2019, Bob Crowley knew he wanted his next chapter to be more personal. When COVID gave him time to reflect, he found himself drawn to wellness and inspired by the idea of building something of his own.<\/p>\n<p>That\u2019s when he found Hand &amp; Stone.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat attracted me was the upward momentum,\u201d Bob explains. \u201cThe brand was growing, there was wide open territory in my home state of Ohio, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/bob-crowley-15b90a1_take-a-look-at-bobs-journey-with-hand-activity-7224915114619981824-4GKi?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=member_desktop&amp;rcm=ACoAADT7mYgBdbQtcaSMUpLP08dWvKPRKVwP-H0\">I saw a real opportunity<\/a> to get in at the right time with a wellness franchise that had room to grow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>His approach <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/bob-crowley-15b90a1_solonchamber-handandstonespa-spa-activity-7323660248622235650-ogjj?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=member_desktop&amp;rcm=ACoAADT7mYgBdbQtcaSMUpLP08dWvKPRKVwP-H0\">centers on culture<\/a><strong>.<\/strong> While Bob had never been a franchisee before, he brought years of people-first leadership to the table: employees receive free memberships, a staff recognition board celebrates contributions, and he creates a positive, inclusive environment where team members feel supported.<\/p>\n<p>Bob\u2019s spa franchise is a true family-run business. His wife and son both play active roles in daily operations, and his leadership style prioritizes culture, recognition, and a team-first mentality.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s nothing better than building a team, helping people thrive, and doing it in an industry that improves people\u2019s lives alongside those I love most.\u201d<\/p>\n<h2><strong>John &amp; Nick Marco<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>No story about families in franchising at Hand &amp; Stone would be complete without mentioning the father-son duo who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linkedin.com\/posts\/nickmarco_handandstone-celebrating20years-familybusinesslegacy-activity-7269457450079064064-UPLz?utm_source=share&amp;utm_medium=member_desktop&amp;rcm=ACoAADT7mYgBdbQtcaSMUpLP08dWvKPRKVwP-H0\">brought the brand to life<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Hand &amp; Stone was founded in 2004 by physical therapist John Marco, who set out to make high-quality massage and facial services more accessible. From the beginning, Hand &amp; Stone was a family endeavor. The brand name itself came from a naming contest among Marco\u2019s children. I grew up working in the very first location.
