October holds special significance for both Hand & Stone Massage and Facial Spa and the American Cancer Society (ACS). For the third consecutive year, Hand & Stone is proud to collaborate with ACS, an organization close to its heart, through an impactful initiative: the Think Pink Campaign. This nationwide effort empowered franchisees to support the fight against breast cancer within their local communities while enhancing the spa experience for clients.
During the 2023 Hand & Stone International Conference in Washington, D.C., a unique on-site art auction featured handcrafted pieces by Hand & Stone colleagues. The auction, along with direct contributions, raised $20,000 for the American Cancer Society. Held at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the gala was a celebration of collective efforts to make a difference.
Building on that momentum, Hand & Stone exceeded expectations in October 2024, raising more than $25,000 through contributions from individual spas and corporate efforts, surpassing the previous year’s goal. The approach was simple yet impactful: $5 from select service upgrades and enhancements—such as mini cold stone face massages, foot treatments, and peppermint scalp massages—was donated to the American Cancer Society (ACS) throughout the month.
Additionally, clients had the option to contribute directly via a convenient QR code, making it easy to support the cause. To further amplify participation and spread awareness of the Think Pink Campaign, spas were provided with wearable pins and pink ribbons to display prominently.
This initiative not only showcased the skill and dedication of Hand & Stone’s massage therapists and estheticians but also gave clients the unique satisfaction of knowing their relaxation directly supported the fight against cancer.
This success would not have been possible without the dedication of regional leaders, including Erik Bostrom (Denver, CO), Rogerio Reyes (Pacific Northwest), Edward Oursler (Minneapolis, MN), and JP Blaise (Long Island, NY). Each played a pivotal role in bringing the Think Pink Campaign to life in their respective markets.
The origins of this initiative in spas trace back eight years to the Denver market, which first partnered with ACS to raise funds for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. What began as a local effort has since grown into a multi-market campaign, with plans for future expansion. Hand & Stone remains steadfast in its mission to increase fundraising, provide crucial resources for ACS, and scale the initiative nationally—all in pursuit of a world without cancer.
Through relaxation and community engagement, Hand & Stone is proving that self-care and making a difference can go hand in hand.
